About Library

The library of the Sree Vivekananda Teacher Education Centre started functioning in its very first year of establishment in 2005. Now the library functions as a knowledge resource centre for the students and faculties of the college. Utilizing ILMS, the library is completely automated. The world’s top open-source library automation program, KOHA Software 23.11 version, which includes acquisition, circulation, cataloguing, and serial control, was installed in 2024. Using library software, the library has created a database for its own collection. At present, the library has a collection of approximately 8300 books, in addition to magazines, journals, and other reading materials. All documents are computerized, and an OPAC facility is provided. Books are identified by a unique catalogue code that has the attributes Name, Author, Classification, Publisher, and Category and provides open access to their materials. The books are arranged according to Dewey decimal classification. Special books such as NET coaching and competitive exams, dictionaries, encyclopaedias; yearbooks, etc. are also available. New arrivals of books and journals are displayed on a rack. The reading area is nicely equipped to hold up to 50 students at once and offers a relaxing setting for learning. The library is fully computerized with a barcode-based circulation process. Our library provides facilities to access online resources like the Delnet. The user is given a separate ID and password. Two systems are provided for browsing with high-speed internet access in the library, as well as providing Wi-Fi too. Users can make use of the online resources. Also, web OPAC is made available for library users. Adequate space is provided for browsing and relaxed reading. In addition to general reading periodicals and newspapers, it subscribes to highly regarded journals. A comprehensive collection of yearbooks, dictionaries, and encyclopaedias covering certain subjects is also kept at the library. Every academic year, orientation programs on the resources and services offered by the library are held. The Library of Sree Vivekananda Teacher Education Centre plays a pivotal role in the process of enhancing the teaching and learning of the college.

  • All the students and employees of the college are members of the library.
  • For all library services, a college ID or library card is required.
  • The library will remain open from 9.15 am. to 4.15 pm. on all working days.
  • Strict discipline and silence is to be observed in the library.
  • The library does not allow the use of bags, textbooks, or umbrellas as personal belongings. You might store it on the property counter. Laptops and notebooks are portable and useful for studying.
  • Text book, reference books, journal and periodicals are to be read in the library only.
  • Marking, underlining, cutting, and erasing for damaging books are strictly prohibited.
  • The loan period is usually 10 days. Library books should be properly looked after band deposited on the due date. Failure of return book on time would be compulsorily lead to penalty of RS. 1 per day for all.
  • Three books will be given to each B Ed student, and the college’s permanent staff may receive five volumes at once.
  • Only academic uses are permitted on the computers at the library.
  • Librarian may allow reissue of books by any user if the book is not in the demand.
  • Librarian may ask for a book at any time in case of urgency.
  • Library books are to be deposited at least one week before any vacation and final vacation.
  • In case of user loses or damages of books a book he/she will have to replace the book or deposit twice the price of the book.
